Padan is an insecticide developed by M/s Takeda Chemicals Industries Ltd., Japan. It was
derived from nereistoxin a naturally occurring insecticidal substance, isolated from marine
segmented worms. This insecticide throughout the world as one of the major insecticides.

Trade NamePadan - This is a trade name of M/s Takeda Chemicals, Japan
and in India M/s Coromandel Agrico Pvt. Ltd., promotes in all
the states of its operation.
FormulationIn India, we promote two formulations of this products,
1) Padan 4G (4% Cartap hydrochloride in granule form)
2) Padan 50SP (50% Water soluble powder)
CompatibilityPadan is compatible with most commonly used pesticides
except alkaline ones.
PhytotoxicityGenerally experiments indicate that this is a safe insecticide. But, it would be advisable to check phytotoxicity on Cotton, Tobacco and Apples.
Major features This has different mode of action that of other insecticide.
Effective against both chewing and sucking insects.
Controls insects at a low concentration.
It has prolonged efficacy.
It has systemic action and thus effective against mining insects.
Soft on natural predators and parasites.
Virtually no effect on fish.
Non toxic to mammals
It breaks the resistance occurred through usage of other insecticides.
 
Recommendations for use and Doses of Padan 4G:
 
This formulation is generally used in two major crops i.e. Rice and Sugarcane. The recommended doses are as follows :

It should be mixed with 20-22 kg of sand and evenly broadcast over the field. At the time of application, the field should have standing water of 2-3" which should be kept without drawing
for a period of 3 days to have an
effective control.

Apply 7.5-10kgs per kg after 25-30 days of sowing. After this, the field may be irrigated. Wear rubber gloves while you apply this product.
 
Recommendations and Doses of Padan 50SP:
Padan 50SP has been found effective in the control of most of major pests on Rice, Patato, Sweet Patato, Maize, Cabbage, Onion, Ginger, Grapes Tea, Citrus other vegetables. The important pests that are controlled by Padan 50SP are detailed as below.

Method of application and dose:
> 200-250gm of Padan should be mixed in 200-250 liter of water and sprayed on acre crop
   area. Make sure the spray solution is sprayed uniformly.
> Product should be sprayed twice on 10 days interval.
> Padan is compatible with other insecticides and fungicides. This can be mixed with these
   chemicals and sprayed on the target crop.
